How to Drain a Keurig B70 Coffee Maker?

If you don’t know much about the Keurig B70 coffee maker before, you should at this point. So, if you consider buying one of these bad boys, or you already own one, cleaning it is a breeze. First, you need the following tools:

  • Plastic straw
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Flathead screwdrivers

With these tools at hand, follow the steps below to drain your Keurig B70 coffee maker properly.

Step 1: Lift the pod handle to remove the screws on top

The first thing you ought to do when handling any electrical unit is disconnecting it from a power source. Next, you need to get access to the tank. To do so, you have to lift the pod compartment hand. This will give you access to two flat head screws.  Use the flat head screwdriver to unscrew the screw.

Step 2: Remove the top from the Keurig coffee maker

After you unscrew the screw holding the top of the Keurig coffee maker, you will be able to detach the top of the coffee maker from the rest of the machine. To remove the top from the Keurig coffee maker, gently pull the loosened top forward and upward. When successfully removed, it will expose the inner tubing of the Keurig coffee maker.

Step 3: Remove the silicone tubes

When separated, you will see two tubes connected to the top of the inner water tank. One is connected to the opening coming straight out of the top of the water tank, while the other is connected to the L-shaped opening on the back-right. In addition, there will probably be a zip tie affixing the silicone tubes to the metal water filter. To remove the silicone tube, you can snip the zip ties or wiggle the zip ties.

Step 4: Pour out the water.

With the silicone tubes out, you can pour the water by inverting the brewer to drain the water out of the L-shaped opening. Note, this is not the faster draining process, so give it some time to drain. This is because there is no opening for air to displace the water. To speed things up, use a thin straw to improve airflow into the water tank.

Step 5: Reassemble the machine.

When you are done draining, reattach the silicone tubes. If you snip the silicone tubes, you need to buy a new one, but if you wiggled them out, you could wiggle them back. Reattach the top by sliding it back in and screwing the screws you removed earlier. And you are all done.
