Firewood Café serves delicious handcrafted food at an affordable price. It’s a simple theory. We achieve this by lovingly making our own pasta and sauces and using authentic ingredients like aged parmesan cheese, fresh shiitake mushrooms, mild Italian sausage, and crisp local greens to create our unique Californian/Mediterranean meals.
Our History
Brothers Garrett and Glenn Meyers started Firewood Café with a simple philosophy: freshly prepared food doesn’t have to be expensive. In February 1997 the first Firewood Café opened its doors in the Castro District of San Francisco.
The Meyers brothers’ basic concept: “Use the highest quality local ingredients in simply prepared, fresh dishes, at an affordable price” caught on with local residents. Firewood Café was a neighborhood success. The dining experience was quick, efficient, and clean; yet they developed a restaurant that was stylish, elegant, and hip.
Garrett and Glenn learned the restaurant business from the ground up, having cut their teeth at the well-received Fly Trap Restaurant, a family run fine-dining restaurant in the SOMA district. With Firewood Café, they’ve expanded the healthy, hearty Californian/Mediterranean cuisine to new locations at the Metreon and SFO airport. There are now 4 Firewood Cafés and 2 Firewood Grills in the Bay Area — with more on the way.
